Blend hauntingly beautiful vocal lines with a modern folk sound, add emotionally bare, intimate lyrics…and the result is Smile Smile.
Smile Smile’s Marry A Stranger, a follow-up to the duo’s 2010 break-up album Truth on Tape, gives insight into the band’s musical evolution. Taking a more collaborative approach to the new album, the bandmates move away from old tensions. When asked about these changes, Hamilton responds, “We don’t fight like we used to. It doesn’t feel like I’m hanging out with my ex. It feels like I’m working with my bandmate and friend.” Hamilton and Hirunrusme’s history only adds to Smile Smile’s heartfelt and honest lyricism.
