These experiences have given her the confidence to venture beyond acting and into the world of writing and directing. Her first screenplay, "Crazier Than You," won the 2012 Blacktie Screenplay Competition at the Long Island Film Festival, and placed 3rd in the 2013 Write Brothers Screenplay Competition at the Canada International Film Festival. Amy Jo's directorial debut, the short film BENT, was the winner of the Audience Choice Award at the 2013 Women in Film and Television Toronto Short Film Showcase, the Jury Award at the 2013 Toronto Independent Film Festival, and was among official selections at other film festivals across the US. Amy Jo has also personally received The Shelly Award for Women Filmmakers at the 2013 Long Island Film Festival. Lines, Amy Jo's second short film, is in post-production and will be hitting the festival circuit in 2014.
