ABOUT LIZ LARIN & HURRICANE
www.LizLarinMusic.com -- www.BonaDeaMusic.com
‘Hurricane’ is bold, beautiful music taking the listener on a sonic expedition through fantastic worlds. With elements of rock, pop, electronic and ambient music, it is lush and cinematic, pulled together with masterful writing skills. Celebrating the mystery of the hero’s journey with powerful vocals, tribal drums, and a taste of Celtic music, the music tells the story of a warrior's quest into the unknown and back again. Larin, a multi-instrumentalist, produced and played most of the instruments, with added production from John Nixon. Larin’s current live show, with self-produced visuals 'Hurricane - A Song Cycle,' embodies fearless, anti-genre thinking.
BIO - A performing artist, musician, singer/guitarist and composer/songwriter, Liz Larin’s music and lyrics evoke dramatic colorful landscapes and romantic worlds. Though Larin came up in the Michigan rock/pop/techno and jazz scene, as a romantic she is now a constant traveler. This restless creative spirit has garnered an international fan base. In search of inspiration, she travels with portable audio and video production developing an internet travel and music series.
As a multi-instrumentalist Liz Larin is as comfortable in a recording studio as she is on stage. Liz Larin's new CD, ‘Hurricane’ as a live show is an audio-video performance, a natural progression supporting the cinematic scope of the music. Recording under four names, Liz Larin fearlessly embodies a spirit of inventiveness and was recently voted number fifteen by AOR Magazine in the UK in an issue about the top 50 women in rock.
HISTORY: A songwriter at age ten, Liz Larin was a professional musician by 12, as a performer of religious music. By the time she was 15 she was a music teacher and was being mentored by some of Detroit best musicians. Signed to Atlantic Records at a young age, ‘One By One By One,’ her international release with her band ‘Rebel Heels,’ was completed in England with legendary producer Rupert Hine (The Fixx, Howard Jones.) Liz's second Atlantic recording and solo project, Test Your Faith, was co-produced by Ben Grosse (Filter, Vertical Horizon, Marilyn Manson). Liz landed in LA where she produced Merry Wicked with co-producer Scott Spock of The Matrix (Korn, Avril Lavigne), which debuted on Larin's own imprint, Bona Dea Records in 2000. The label has expanded to include electronic pop and world artists. She went on to record the multi-award-winning CD ‘The Story Of O-Miz,’ followed by ‘Wake Up, Start Dreaming.’ Liz's modern compositional work ‘Beauty in Three Parts’ debuted at Strange Beautiful Music, a 12-hour marathon featuring members of the Detroit Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, and Boston Symphony.
