Born in the vast farming country of central Nebraska, Taryn Shea has set out to celebrate her country roots and share her life-long passion for music. A true farmer’s daughter, Shea grew up riding horses and roaming the fields. While other children her age were watching cartoons, Shea watched CMT religiously, dreaming of the day she too could move to Nashville, TN to pursue her career in country music. In 2001, 11 year-old Shea was in a traumatic car accident, which left her with serious injuries and permanent scars. This incident brought even more motivation and drive to accomplish her dreams. As a young girl, Shea learned not to take life for granted and had an early realization that life will bring unexpected obstacles to overcome. Shea made a full recovery and never let the accident hold her back as she continued to pursue her dream.
Taryn Shea attended college at Millikin University in Decatur, IL. Eleven hours from her hometown, the school was notably known for having an outstanding commercial music program. Shea jumped head first into her education at Millikin. Not knowing virtually anything of music theory, she was determined to become a top student in her class. At Millikin, Shea explored all sides of the music industry. Shea found her talent and passion was in songwriting. Her debut EP was done with a few talented classmates in the school’s recording studio entitled “Ordinary Girl” in 2011. The EP was a great success and when she graduated college in 2012, the next step in her career was to move to the country music capital of the world, Nashville, TN.
The small town girl finally arrived in “Music City”. Taryn Shea was instantly inspired and amazed at the talent and potential Nashville had to offer. She continues to write and perform as much as possible. Shea is currently promoting the release of her Nashville debut “Heart Stay Strong”. The album was recorded on “Music Row” with some of Nashville’s finest studio musicians. Shea’s music is simple, relatable, and blends her influences of pop and country into a refreshing style of her own. Lyrically, the singer-songwriter shares relatable experiences of heartbreak, love, and the flee from a small town. “Heart Stay Strong” is available on both hard copy and digitally on iTunes.
