Her music has been licensed for a plethora of television shows, including “So You Think You Can Dance,” which regularly features her song “The Dance” during the show’s open. Details magazine called her “a seductive performer” and “a skilled lyricist who writes with surgical precision” and Performing Songwriter praised Martin as “a born storyteller and affecting vocalist.” Charlotte has landed cowrites with names like Carol King, Billy Steinburg, Tiesto, The Crystal Method, Ben Lee, Sofia Isella, Future Of Forrestry, Charlotte now owns and runs her own music school reaching 14 countries, developing her own music methods to train musicians, voice teachers, songwriters, kids, and any human being that wants to express and find their art. Charlotte mainly uses her own vocal method she has developed over the years of training and the 25 + year career as an Internationally known singer/songwriter and Major Label Recording artist/ Songwriter.
Charlotte was classically trained in Bel Canto and holds a Bachelors in Opera Performance from Eastern Illinois University. Studying classical voice from the age of 7-23 years old, Charlotte has had the unique experience of singing and studying classical voice full time, until she began listening to pop/shoegaze/industrial music in college, leading her to compose her first song (in a style like Tori Amos) for her bf's funeral. Charlotte was 21 years old when her friend died. She finished college and instead of obtaining a MM in Opera Performance from IU in Bloomington Ind, she packed her car up and moved to LA to get a record deal, which she did in 2000, 3 record deals later, several publishing deals, tours, albums, tours and tours, tvs, two kids, a neurological disease almost killing her at 33, she founded her passion project, SLA MUSIC. This started as online voice lessons in 2018, and Charlotte writing her vocal method book "The Multilevel Singer" ~ The Classical Approach for the Contemporary Virtuoso ~ to developing a songwriting curriculum which then lead to her 19th album Behemoth which will feature her top songwriting students from around the world she has collaborated with over the past 8 years with success developing Sofia Isella, and working with Twilight star singer/songwriter Anya Marina and Matt Pond, Nikki Glasser to name a few, Charlotte balances the teaching now with her artist career where she has been involving her artists as she said "music is a universal HUMAN language" that is about the process for the individual as well as for the collaborator. She states, "God gave us all voices, ears and hands, I want to train musicians from all sorts of backgrounds, genres, etc. I want to write with all kinds of humans and bring their voices out.. The goal is they learn in the process while making art they did not know they had inside of them. I have written 3 musicals with songwriting students in my school, one ended up being a work for hire, but I am still splitting the publishing with the writer because she came in through this platform. I believe in no more mediocrity. AI has given all musicians who have been too afraid to try to learn their potential, a real shot. Music is learned. It is in everyone. The magical part is the making of it, and learning to do it never ever ends. She ends with " I still write for myself, because I am now in this place where because I do it SO much, 7 days a week sometimes, I can literally write anything on the spot whatever it is. I did microwave my phone though in 2024, and I have severe ADHD lol, that balances me out pretty well." Charlottes album is in the works with her fans/patreons supporting her. Behemoth will hopefully be out in 2026. The Multilevel Singer is expected to come out in book form in spring of 2026.
