For almost 30 years Hard Rock/Christian Rock pioneer Michael Sweet has broken down walls and seen unprecedented success bringing his music to the masses. Best known as the singer, lead guitarist, songwriter for the legendary rock band Stryper, his role in Stryper only scratches the surface of this multi-platinum, multi-talented artist.
In addition to his very visible role in Stryper, Michael is also a world renowned songwriter, producer, acclaimed solo artist, and from 2007-2011, Sweet was a member of the legendary classic rock band BOSTON and performed with Boston as co-lead vocalist and guitarist.
With almost 10 million records sold worldwide, Grammy nominations and multiple Dove Awards, Michael continues to break new ground in all aspects of his incredibly diverse career.
“After almost 30 years in this business, I feel honored and blessed to be able to continue doing what I love to do, making music! I’m extremely thankful to have some of the greatest fans/friends in the world. God has blessed me with talents and abilities and I plan to continue on this path as long as I can hold a mic and strap on a guitar.” says Sweet.
Looking back over the last 30 years, Stryper is considered to be a groundbreaking act by all accounts, being one of the first Christian rock bands to cross over and achieve major success in the mainstream world. Their 1986 album To Hell With The Devil is listed among CCM’s “100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music” and the band’s incredibly popular power ballad “Honestly” became a Billboard Top 20 hit. Even as recent as 2010 and 2011, Stryper found their way once again on the Billboard Charts with the albums Murder by Pride and The Covering.
Michael is soon to release an autobiography tentatively titled "Honestly" as well as a brand new solo record. Stryper is currently putting the final touches on a soon to be released re-record record and they will enter into the studio to record their next all original full length in the first quarter of 2013.
