The depth electrodes used for SEEG typically have 4-18 contacts spaced 2-10 mm apart and a diameter of 1 mm or less. Electrodes are either semirigid or flexible with a rigid style that can be removed after insertion. Most often, they are inserted orthogonally as a result of a burr or twist drill hole. Parasagittally inserted electrodes also exist.
